LBEMC provides 24-hour ambulatory emergency care to the horses at Patriot Farms, as well as on-site diagnostic ultrasound to monitor and facilitate the progress of rehabilitating horses. Dr. Langdon Fielding, Dip ACVECC and Dr. Jill Higgins have been collectively performing the ultrasound exams at LBEMC for over 12 years. While the majority of the exams focus on the tendons and ligaments in the leg, other areas include evaluations of the abdomen and thorax (lungs, heart). Dr. Higgins and Dr. Fielding are both horse owners and riders and each pursues their own specific areas of veterinary research and publications.
